REPAIRS

We make repairs on all makes of double horns and have specialized in rebuilding instruments for over 50 years. All of our repairs come with a 5 year warranty on workmanship. Valve rebuilding usually consists of lapping the original rotors loose in their casings then replating with electronic grade nickel which resists corrosion and wear for over 10 years if properly oiled. All links and slides are tightened and the horn is thoroughly chemically cleaned. We are highly price competitive and our reputation on repairs of vintage instruments is unsurpassed.

Valve leakage occurs very slowly over time as the rotors and casings corrode away. A good test is a simple valve pop. This will not hurt the instrument. Pull the slides an inch or two and wait approximately 3 seconds, hold down the change valve for the B flat side, depress the valve and listen for the 'pop'. If you hold your ear to the mouthpiece at the same time, you can hear the leak down and how bad it is. Uneven leakage will cause intonation problems, usually noticeably when the B flat and F sides don't balance correctly. Tone becomes dull and the 'slot' of the notes is very wide or there is very little 'lock-in'. Please consult our price list.
